ABSTRACT
Reseñamos de manera crítica e interpretativa, las escasas referencias a la lengua de los diaguitas chilenos proporcionadas por el cronista Bibar, así como las hipótesis de comienzos de siglo que recoge y postula el investigador Rodolfo Schuller, respecto al origen, extensión y lengua de los juríes o diaguitas y de sus relaciones con los atacameños. La obra de Schuller constituye un enclave importantísimo para el inicio del estudio de la lengua de los diaguitas, aunque limitado al sector transandino.
This is a critical and interpretative summary of the scarce references about the Diagutas' tongue, transmitted by the chronicler Bibar. It also presents hypotheses from the beginnign of this century which were collected and postullated by the researcher Rodolfo Schuller in connection with the origin, the expansion and the tongue of the "juríes" or diaguitas, but also about their connection with the atacameños. Schuller's work represents an important milestone for staring an study of the tongue used by the diaguitas, though limited to the trans - andean area.
